A Winter of Progress at Ralph Myhre Golf Course
For most golfers, winter at Ralph Myhre Golf Course means snow-covered fairways, quiet greens, and a few months of patiently waiting for spring.
But behind the scenes, winter is one of the busiest times of year.
While the course rests under snow, crews have been hard at work across the property — improving the clubhouse, upgrading facilities, and continuing important course projects that will make the upcoming season even better.
When golfers return this spring, some of these improvements will be easy to see. Others are happening quietly behind the scenes — improvements that will make the experience smoother, more comfortable, and more enjoyable every time you visit.
A New Chapter for Tavern on the Tee
One of the most exciting projects this offseason has been the renovation work taking place inside Tavern on the Tee.
For more than a decade, the Tavern has been a favorite gathering spot for golfers and the community alike — a place where rounds are recapped, stories grow a little taller, and friends gather after a day on the course.
Now we’re giving the Tavern the attention and infrastructure it truly deserves.
At the center of the renovation is a brand-new bar, designed to improve service flow and create a more inviting social space inside the clubhouse. The front-of-house improvements are visually striking, and golfers will immediately notice the refreshed layout and atmosphere when they walk through the doors this season.
But some of the most important upgrades are happening behind the scenes.
The kitchen and service areas are undergoing a major overhaul, creating significantly improved storage, prep space, and cooking facilities. These improvements will allow our team to better support the growing demand from the dining room, patio, and our many events throughout the season.
Together, these upgrades are designed to improve efficiency and reduce wait times, helping us deliver the level of service our guests deserve.
Expanded Hours and a Return to Full Table Service
Along with the physical improvements to the space, we’re also excited to introduce a refreshed service model at the Tavern this season.
We’ll be returning to full table service, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their time without needing to order at the bar or counter. Our team is committed to delivering a higher level of service while maintaining the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that has always defined Tavern on the Tee.
We’re also expanding hours of operation, giving golfers and the community more opportunities to gather, dine, and enjoy the space throughout the week.
When you combine the renovated space, improved kitchen infrastructure, expanded hours, and a renewed focus on hospitality, the result is a Tavern experience that we believe will be better than ever.
And of course, we’ll continue to feature a great lineup of live entertainment, helping make the Tavern one of the most enjoyable places to spend a summer evening in Middlebury.
Enhancing the Patio Experience
For many golfers, some of the best moments of the day happen after the round, out on the patio overlooking the course.
Whether it’s a cold drink after the 18th hole or a relaxed meal with friends, the patio has long been one of the favorite gathering spots at Ralph Myhre.
This winter we’ve been making improvements to the patio area to enhance that experience even further, creating a more comfortable and inviting outdoor space for golfers, families, and community members alike.
Stepping Up the On-Course Experience
The improvements this season won’t stop at the clubhouse.
We’re also stepping up our on-course hospitality with the addition of a new beverage cart and a commitment to having better coverage on the course — especially during the busiest times of the day.
Whether you’re making the turn or enjoying a warm afternoon on the back nine, our goal is to make it easier than ever to grab a cold drink and keep the round going.
Improvements at the Practice Range
Golfers will also notice improvements at the practice facilities this season with the installation of new driving range mats.
These new mats provide a more consistent hitting surface and a better practice experience for players warming up before their round or spending time working on their swing.
Small upgrades like this make a big difference throughout the season.
Winter Work Out on the Course
Winter also provides an important opportunity for work out on the course itself.
Our grounds crew has been busy tackling clearing projects and maintenance work designed to improve course health and playability.
We’re also excited to see the continued benefits of the greens drainage improvements installed last fall, including the new drainage systems on the #5 and #6 greens. Similar to the drainage system installed on the new #1 green, these improvements help the course recover more quickly after heavy rain and improve playing conditions throughout the season.
Spring Is Right Around the Corner
As the days slowly begin to get longer and the snow starts to retreat, excitement around the upcoming golf season is already building.
The work happening this winter reflects our continued commitment to improving the Ralph Myhre experience — from the course itself to the clubhouse to the practice facilities.
Soon enough the fairways will turn green again, the first tee times will be called, and the patio will once again fill with golfers enjoying a beautiful Vermont afternoon.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.
